Today we went to see the foundations which are finished! They have even delivered the brocks to build the "crawlspace" / "underfloor space" (word found on internet dictionnary... sorry if it doesn't mean anything...). They should start building the crawlspace tomorrow according to our futur neighboors who saw our clarck of works on friday.
Our first work on the land (le 11/03/2007 à 19h39)
Today the 11th of March we have been to buy some tools to get started on the tree side of our land were it is a real mess!!! We have found out that the owners hadn't touched that area of their land for over 25 years!!!
So we went to a gardening shop and bought a fork, a shovel, two secateurs (one each!!) and some gardening glooves for protection.
We worked for over an hour on the land and didn't do badly for a first go, but we also realised we were missing some tools: a saw for wood and a rake! So on the way back we went straight back to the shop to be ready for next week end!!!
The 26th of febuary we had the technical reunion for the building of our house.
The difficult point was Aurelien's eye as it was still sore but we were still exited about at last reaching this event!
With the person that is going to take over the organisation of building our house we went round all the differents points that they could be: - we chose the color of the outside walls (ocre) - we chose the color of the floor tiles. Normally in our model of house we are only allowed one color for the hole house but we have been allowed one color for the day side of the house (cream) and an other one for the night side of the house (white with grey and blue nuances)! - we have taken out in the sitting room, kitchen and hall way the wooden skirting boards for ones in tiles like the flooring - we have been able to move the opening of where the water tank will be for it to be on the hall way side instead of the kitchen side so we will be able to put a bar on the kitchen side - the person in charge told us not to have them to put in the bathroom floor tiling as we wouldn't be able to find wall tiling to match so it was better to do it all ourselves - we told him where we wanted the cheminey evacuation
He explained to us what to do to have the water put in on the land as they need it to start. So we contacted the water services and the sent us a quote that we have already sent back so we hope they will do it quite fast now.
We have also received the amendement to our contract with the modifications we agreed to and we are going to send it back tomorrow for them to be able to complete our file and get started ASAP.
Ha says it should start beginning of april to finish in october. We hope things will get started soon and that everything will go smoothly.
